The Fraser Valley boasts almost 25 percent of British Columbia’s total liquor sales with Langley’s Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) retail store ranking third in the province. Sounds about right to the organizers of the Fraser Valley Cork and Keg Festival who are gearing up to stage their second annual festival on Friday, September 14th at the Coast Hotel and Casino in Langley.
As the only wine, beer and spirits trade and consumer event outside of Vancouver, the Fraser Valley Cork and Keg Festival provides a platform for international and local wineries, breweries and distilleries to introduce their products to Fraser Valley based industry and consumers. “We truly enjoy the Vancouver based wine events, but felt we were missing out connecting with one of our key audiences in the Valley,” notes event creator and managing partner, Lynette Faye of KIS Consulting. “Last year was our inaugural event and we were delighted with the response from the industry and public.”
The second year for the Cork and Keg Festival is shaping up well and will provide guests over 300 different tastings including samplings from award winning Fraser Valley restaurateurs and, new this year, an oyster bar hosted by the ever popular Langley fish market, 1 Fish 2 Fish.
The event is comprised of two parts; an afternoon trade event exclusively for those who work in the hospitality industry and a consumer event that kicks off at 7:00pm where the public are invited to enjoy all of the wine, beer and spirit tastings as well as sample Fraser Valley cheeses and other local delicacies. “The trade portion of our day provides an excellent opportunity for those in the hospitality industry to sample various products, ask questions and meet with liquor agent’s onsite,” remarked Faye. “Our vendors really look forward to connecting with individuals from the industry and the consumer of their products.”
The festival would not be complete without live entertainment, Faye just asks that you plan a safe way home or take advantage of the Coast Hotels Stay and Play offer, allowing ticket holders to book a room and make a night of it. “Everyone is welcome – whether you are a wine or beer enthusiast, a novice who would like to learn more or a seasoned guru, there is something for everyone,” says Faye.
Interested trade and media professionals should register their attendance through the Cork and Keg website. Tickets for the consumer event are $49.95 and include all tastings and are available through corkandkeg.ca.
The 2nd annual Fraser Valley Cork & Keg festival is the only trade and consumer event outside of Vancouver that provides a platform to showcase international and local wine, craft and premium beer and spirits. The event also provides an opportunity for trade and consumer guests to sample local delicacies including offerings from award winning restaurants.
