The best part about Christmas is the total focus on delicious, rich, holiday food. It’s everywhere! Eventful, festive evenings mean multiple samplings from a variety of caterers and restaurants. I look forward to cranberry encrusted cinnamon goat cheese logs with graham crackers, ham, crab cakes, sushi platters (year round), rum balls, shortbread, butter tarts, and of course, soy nog to wash it all down.
My busiest night of ‘silly season’ began early on a Thursday with my Producer Andy at Blushing boutique. Highly energetic designing twins Chip and Pepper were there ready to be interviewed for FMA. Their denim line was huge in the 80′s and 90′s.
I was mauled in the interview. Pepper (left) stole the mic from my hand as Chip made pig-snorting noises in my ear. Roles reversed as they began interviewing me. Most unconventional segment I’ve shot for FMA (in a great way)!
The twins, ET's Erin Cebula, Designer Shelley Klassen, and myself.
A few basic appies were set out: lime Tostitos, salsa, and cajun cashews. I was looking forward to our next stop: Haus of Klaus at Noir Lash Lounge hosted by the lovely Miss Joyce, which was catered by one of my favorite spots: Society.
Society is not only a favorite spot because I have been appointed their ‘White Chocolate Creme Anglaise Doughnut Hole Ambassador’, but because I ‘would die’ for the majority of their menu items.
Joyce’s festive event was winding down as we arrived.

Luckily, a lone canapé lay waiting on a silver platter. Good thing there was only one because I could have eaten ten. On a French baguette crostini lay a generous slice of seared ahi tuna topped with a calamata olive, an haricot verte, hard boiled quail’s egg, and sundried tomato aioli. They were absolutely to die for. I wasn’t surprised; a Glowbal Group restaurant experience has yet to leave me unsatisfied.
art!
Our next stop was Agent Provocateur for rose champagne and strawberries. A lingerie model lounging in the display window greeted us. The dominatrix Christmas theme was showcased throughout the store. Lots of unique gift ideas.

Fruit was not hitting the spot. We moved next door to the grand opening of Townhall (the rebranded Saltlik).

The place was packed. Live jazz was playing and appies were out. I couldn’t resist the butternut squash soup made with roasted pumpkin oil garnished with a sugar cinnamon tweel. This little stick was the best part.
More tweels on the side, please.
Tempura battered cauliflower with Romesco Sauce was also a favorite. Perfectly salted and slightly crunchy.
Creative branch garnish.
I have Blushing Boutique, Joyce and Noir Lash Lounge, Society, Agent Provocateur, and Townhall to thank for a packed festive evening and a full stomach – made for a great sleep.
