Classic Mother’s Day Gift Ideas

Moms have a special way of adding a little magic to their children’s lives.

When I think of all the thoughtful things my mom has done for me, I feel particularly inspired to do something over the top for her this Mother’s Day (Sunday, May 8th). Here are gifts I’m contemplating:

1. An overnight stay at one of the world’s most luxurious hotels: Shangri-La

I’d prepare the room for her arrival. A few personal touches go a long way, and of course, snacks (like these chocolate covered strawberries, available through room service), are always a hit.

2. Chocolates and flowers are Mother’s Day must-haves.

Though they’re cliché, moms love them. How could they not? I’d pick up a box of Purdy’s Hedgehogs (my mom’s and my favorite) or a selection of truffles from top chocolatier, ChocolaTas. My mom and I have a thing for ladybugs, making these perfect.

3. Brunch at Market, one of my favorite restaurants in the city.

They’re offering a 3-course brunch menu for $42. Though Scallop Sashimi isn’t ‘brunch’, I’d order it. This new item is one of the best things I’ve tasted (mark my words!).

4. A service from CHI, The Spa — I recommend the unbelievable, 1 hr 50 min ‘Yin Yang Harmonizing Massage’. Read more about it here.

One of the sweetest things about my mom is that whenever I ask her what she wants as a gift, she says, ‘nothing…just your love’. But of course, she must already know this feeling is completely unconditional.

Aren’t moms the best?

Wishing you to die for food on a daily basis,
