South Granville’s got a brand new cold-pressed juice and smoothie bar, and it’s from none other than the founders of nearby Heirloom Vegetarian restaurant.
The small space, formerly a crepe restaurant between 12th and 13th Avenue, has been transformed into Heirloom Juice Co, which is largely a production facility, with a till and a few window seats in the front. For now, the menu is cold-pressed juices only, but soon they’ll be introducing smoothies, acai bowls, oatmeal, paninis and salads, developed by Chef Samantha Dixon.
If your kids are opposed to green juice, get them to try Heirloom Juice Co’s ‘Kid’s Kale’. Made with kale, pineapple, green apple and mint, it’s sweet enough to mask the nutritious greens and become a juice they crave.
My favourite was the Greensicle with cilantro, orange, cucumber, lime and ginger.
