Gastown’s L’Abattoir has been one of my favourite restaurants for years. Can you imagine my delight when they announced their new French-inspired brunch service this past December?! Needless to say, I’m excited to team up with these guys for a brunch giveaway contest. So without further ado…brunch for two is up for grabs!
But first, a little bit about L’Abattoir’s fine dining brunch…
Besides a truly stunning dining room (white-washed brick, gorgeous French tiles, natural wood fixtures) and some of the best food in the city by Chef Lee Cooper, L’Abattoir’s cocktail program is truly stand-out. New Head Barman William Johnson has skillfully grabbed the drink-reigns – and he has truly outdone himself when it comes to this new morning drink list. The much-too-easy-to-sip Berry Cobbler with Oloroso sherry, fresh berries and fresh orange juice gets my vote.
As for the food menu, Chef Lee’s poached eggs with melt-in-your-mouth burrata and tomato fondue is my absolute favourite. You must order this if you go! Another winner is the shrimp frittata with dabs of creamy hollandaise and smoked pepper. L’Abattoir also make fresh pastries in-house daily – and the buttery cinnamon bun is essential with your French press JJ Bean coffee.
