Turmeric is without a doubt one of the healthiest, most anti-inflammatory super-foods you can put into your body. One of the easiest ways to incorporate this vibrant yellow spice into your diet (aside from making a delicious Indian curry) is through hot tea.
Fitness Foods, a local company that delivers nutritious meals to customers doorsteps, was kind enough to share their turmeric tea recipe. Before you start, remember that the most important steps is to source good turmeric. I found mine at Sprout Market in North Van.
1 tsp cinnamon
pinch ground cloves
pinch ground nutmeg
1 tsp fresh ginger
1 tsp ground turmeric
1 pinch pepper (optional)
1 pinch Himalayan salt (optional)
1 1/2 c. water
1 tsp raw honey (to sweeten, optional)
big splash almond milk
1. In a pot on the stove, simmer all ingredients together for 10 minutes
2. Strain and add almond milk (or milk of your choice) and honey
