This list is partially for you, partially for me. When trying to plan a meal, I often completely blank out. Same story when I’m cruising a hood trying to figure out where to eat. I need a list of favourites to refer to.
So, like my Best Food in Vancouver lists, this post aims to help that brain-dead person who can’t come up with a meal idea on the fly. These are my favourite recipes — the ones I keep going back to time and time again. They are that good. Check back often because I’ll be updating this list regularly.
If you’re looking for that “perfect chili recipe”, this just might be it. In my books, it checks all the boxes. It’s also ridiculously easy and quick to make — putting it in that category of dinners we could enjoy on a weekly basis. No weird ingredients, just everything you want in a chili.
A contender for most popular recipe I’ve ever shared. This hot sauce-lathered crispy cauliflower bites are positively addictive and loved by all, meat-eaters included. I salivate just thinking about them. They’re also shockingly easy to make. For dipping, you can buy vegan ranch from any nice grocery store or make this recipe at home.
This salad is a huge crowd-pleaser. Every time I make it for a larger gathering at least a handful of guests ask me about the recipe. The dressing is tangy with lemon and the chickpeas are fragrantly doused with spices. There is nothing not to love.
The most beautiful salad I’ve ever seen! Mixed with roasted and fresh veggies, it’s also delicious and the kind of recipe you can easily put your own twist on.
These might look fancy, but they are very simple to make. They are guaranteed to dazzle your guests and jazz up your dinner table spread. Some amateur knife skills are involved, but all you really need is a steady hand.
I can’t get enough of this pizza and its unique sauce, made with garlicky roasted butternut squash and a bit of olive oil. Make extra so you can eat the remainder as soup or add to other dishes! Instead of broccolini, I like to use kale (as pictured), but it all works. This loaded pizza is simply irresistible.
These healthier brownies are ridiculously moist and simple to make. No one will guess they contain a whole can of black beans! To make, simply add all ingredients to a blender and mix.
A picture is worth a thousand words, right? This pie needs no romancing. And this dairy-free caramel sauce is the best I have ever encountered. You must try it. I recommend going deep dish with this pie — here are the instructions. Either way, you can’t go wrong.
This is the perfect ‘base recipe’ for any type of dairy-free cheesecake you can dream up. It’s as rich as conventional versions, but includes healthy fats (instead of saturated) so you can feel a little bit less guilty.

This is such a fun dessert to make for a dinner party where each of your guests is served a whole apple to themselves. With a scoop of coconut-based ice cream on top, they are irresistible. Prep the crumble in advance to make this dessert even easier.
Made with five large avocados and sweetened mainly with dates, these raw brownies (which I enjoy cold or frozen) are practically guilt-free. The base is mainly nuts and the creamy second-layer is avocado, nut butter and a bit of maple syrup. You won’t be able to stop sneaking to the fridge for one more bite.
This thick, super-citrusy lemony curd is so delicious, you’ll have a hard time believing it’s healthy. Cashews add the richness and a whole quarter cup of fresh squeeze lemon juice (along with zest). This is the perfect, easy summer dessert (served with berries), but I like it for breakfast with granola, too.
Don’t let the name of these muffins turn you off. You can’t even taste the turmeric (you could also just omit it). If you’re looking for a quick and easy muffin recipe, keep looking. These ones require a bit of labor (involving your food processor) but the result is worth it. I truly consider these “the perfect muffin”.
