One of Vancouver’s most beloved vegetarian restaurants has a revamped daytime menu and two fabulous new chefs.
Heirloom is now home to executive chef Jesse Jobin (whose impressive resume includes Hawksworth, La Pentola and Pied a Terre) and chef de cuisine Colleen Myers from Squamish’s well-known Zephyr Cafe.
The pair have added 17 brand new dishes to Heirloom’s plant-forward menu, which is now divided into two sections: a vegan side and a vegetarian side which both incorporate tons of local ingredients.
During a recent sampling I discovered a few favourites, including an amazing and beautiful roasted beet salad with pear, gorgonzola, spicy hazelnuts, and Saskatchewan wheat berries tossed in a hibiscus vinaigrette. The messy fried egg sandwich was also egg-cellent built with avocado (of course), spiced gouda and cider mustard aioli.
If you were a fan of Heirloom’s popular Kale caesar, don’t worry, it remains an offering. Aside from that all dishes are either revamped or new. And stay tuned for a brand new dinner menu coming soon.
