Introducing “Jamjar”: Lebanese Food on Commercial Drive

Commercial Drive has a sweet new Lebanese joint that’s well worth checking out. Jamjar is run by two passionate food and beverage professionals who only recently moved to Vancouver from Lebanon.

Bakhos and Fadi believe that you are what you eat; therefore, the menu items they serve are fresh, vegetable-forward, preservative-free, and made with lots of local ingredients . In some cases however, for authenticity’s sake, they’ve flown spices in from Lebanon.

Jamjar’s small, cozy space was designed by Bakhos and Fadi with the help of interiors designer Adrienne Kavanagh. With its reclaimed stools, wood tables and mirrors, it’ll tickle you pink.

As for what to order, the Makdous (that’s pickled eggplant stuffed with chili and walnuts) was superb as was the deep fried cauliflower and zucchini (obviously, right?).

Find Jamjar on the south end of “The Drive” between 6th and 7th Ave and know that they’re open for lunch and dinner every day of the week (even Sunday and Monday!).
