1. Poised to taste. 2. The taste. 3. To die for face
Ciao!
Did you know that ‘ciao’ means ‘bye’ and ‘hi’ in Italian?
If not, perhaps you also didn’t know just how much olive oil should be used when cooking. Moltissimo. As in, go crazy.
Though I consider Italians the Gods of food, my favorite restaurant (Aita Mari) is basque and lies nestled between the two bays of San Sebastian, a magical surfing village in northern Spain.
And despite that, if I could eat one thing for the rest of my life (easy): sushi.
Although, if health were not a factor, I would happily survive off of a creamy Thai green curry.
And chocolate! How could I not mention chocolate? Because if I start, I cannot stop…
All of this love, combined with a passion for dinner parties, cooking, my Global knife, grocery shopping, my muffin tin collection, and anything else kitchen-related, makes me a foodie.
My foodie philosophies:
- The ’10 to 15-second rule’ stands.
- Breakfast is worth waking up early for, especially if it includes a big muffin.
- Sushi (Samurai’s) and coffee (Medina’s) are drugs.
- A good ponzu or tataki sauce (Kadoya’s) is worth bathing in.
- Chocolate is as close to orgasmic as food gets; especially, if it’s a Purdy’s Hedgehog.
- Olive oil: the more the better. Italians know. Viva Italia!
- Salt everything, even sweet things, like a sugary breakfast cereal.
- Fat tastes great. Add it to any dish to increase flavor (i.e. butter, cheese, bacon, etc).
- Increase pleasure frequency by eating many tiny meals per day or by carrying nuts (tamari almonds) around.
- Portion size is important unless we’re eating seven or eight tiny courses (perhaps Izakaya style), because…
- Leftovers – specifically curries and pastas –are better than the first round, and not for the dog.
- Never ‘ew’ another’s food, no matter how strange.
You may now safely predict my early death. I do overindulge in sodium, caffeine, and mercury.
In the meantime, I will share stories of all foods ‘to die for’ –
Particularly if occurring in the context of fun and frivolity.
Ciao!

Sí…I took Erin to Aita Mari…twice!
And I can assure all of you sharing dinner with Erin-Jefa is the most “to die for” food experience you will have in your whole life!!!
I miss you, Erin…to the bone! (with salt, sushi, coffee and whatever it takes to see you again! ;-D)
That’s a great ‘to die for’ face. You make me hungry… and I just came back from lunch!
