Krokodile Pear’s Cold Pressed, Organic Juice Cleanse Will Make Your Skin Sing

Krokodile Pear is Kitsilano’s only cold pressed, organic juice destination. Located at First and Cypress, it’s the perfect spot for a post-Kitsilano-seawall-run juice or smoothie.

These guys are also the only juicery in Vancouver with in-house customer seating and an on-tap system, meaning their liquid superfood is quick and customizable. And if you need a snack, they sell a small selection of delicious, healthy treats.

Cleanses are on the Krokodile Pear menu, too. You’ll find one, three and five day options that include nut mylk. Juices included in the cleanses vary based on the season — owners Nick Lewis and Mike Bryde source local when possible.

I really enjoyed my three-day Krokodile Pear cleanse. The juices weren’t the same every day which, to the person who is consuming nothing but juice for days on end, is quite exciting.

In the past, I haven’t found nut mylks to be necessary when cleansing, but I did really enjoy sipping on their delicious Brazil nut milk (with hemp seeds, coconut sugar and Himalayan salt).

On nights and and two, I fell asleep early at 8:30PM — don’t expect tons of energy at night while you cleanse. During the day energy levels were better (I was fine during my long walks) but you may want to avoid working out. I think it’s a nice time to give your body a break and let your organs do the work.

You’ll love their juice flavours – especially the Naramata (carrot, apple, turmeric, lime, ginger) and the Amazing Laughter (apple, pineapple, lots of lime, turmeric). There wasn’t one concoction I didn’t like.

While doing any cleanse, I can’t imagine not being hungry. But to me, the hardest part about giving up food is the traditions and routines surrounding it. I missed preparing food, walking for coffees and meeting friends for a bite. During this cleanse, my hunger was manageable — it never turned into “hanger” (hunger + anger = hangry).
