Movies at Market, one of my favourite culinary events, is launching again this fall, on October 3rd. The first food-related flick in this fall series is called Chef, and the second, launching in November, is Red Obsession starring Russell Crowe.
The evening begins with a bag of fancy popcorn and a glass of bubbly in the Shangri-La Hotel’s private, 36-seat Blue Moon Theatre. Following the film, Chef Montgomery Lau will serve a themed, four-course dinner inspired by the movie. On his upcoming menu, expect a cuban sandwich with fried pickles, garlicky pasta and clams and mussels (a play on the feature film’s storyline, which takes viewers on an epic food truck journey.
At $78 a ticket (which includes champagne, popcorn, a movie and a four-course dinner), this could be the best and most affordable date night in town. If you want to get a bit tipsy, add wine pairings for $55 or $110 dollars a person.
The next movie at market series kicks off on Friday, October 3rd and then again on November 7th. Make a reservation by calling Market by Jean-Georges at the Shangri-La Hotel.
