Searching for an incredible sandwich or casual lunch spot in Downtown Vancouver? You found it.
If you were told to pick a protein and allow ‘sandwich experts’ to add the toppings they believed would lead to sandwich bliss, would you do it? This is the simple, brilliant concept at Vancouver’s most exciting new casual lunch spot: Hubbub.
So scientific is the art of a perfect sandwich, that a technique (obviously research-based) was offered as I approached bite number one of mine, made with prawns ($8.99):
‘Keep the tape in place and tear the paper down as you go’.
The toasted 9’’ sourdough baguette was slathered on both sides with a tangy garlic sauce and covered with mildly spicy pickled jalapenos. Fresh romaine cradled the juicy, steaming hot white tiger prawns that had been sautéed to order in a Mexican margarita marinade. The ‘to die for’ factor — found on each of the five entrée items — was a 9’’ strip of beautifully golden caramelized onion.
Lunch did get messy. But I could have cared less, for I was in sandwich bliss.
