A milkshake from Lucy’s Eastside Diner ($6.50) changed all that. One sip of its rich, frosty beverage had me.
Since opening a mere five months ago, Vancouver’s newest 24-hour diner — specializing in Southern breakies, heartening burgers and a variety of aforementioned dessert drinks — has quickly become one of the city’s top spots for late night nosh.
The herbed goat cheese delicately placed atop my cumin-scented, pleasantly grainy chickpea and black bean-packed patty was soft, warm and easily spreadable. Finely chopped hot peppers added a faint warmth to each mouthful’s aftertaste. Added avocado (a no-brainer if ever offered) deepened the moistness of the sandwich, built on a soft, mayo-lathered bun.
This entire lunch combo ($10) could be one of the best deals in town.
