The Juice Truck and I are excited to announce that our next Mindful Movie Night #9 will be co-hosted by recipe developer extraordinaire, Emily Von Euw of thisrawsomeveganlife.com! Not only did Emily select our documentary for the night, but she will be treating us to some delicious bite-sized snacks from her beautiful new cookbook, The Rawsome Vegan Cookbook.
The chosen flick is Food Chains (from a producer of Food Inc. and Fast Food Nation) which takes a closer look at the individuals who pick our food and the effect fast food companies and supermarkets have on their lives and the entire agricultural system.
MORE ABOUT THE FILM
Food Chains reveals the human cost in our food supply and the complicity of large buyers of produce like fast food and supermarkets. Fast food is big, but supermarkets are bigger – earning $4 trillion globally. They have tremendous power over the agricultural system. Over the past 3 decades they have drained revenue from their supply chain leaving farmworkers in poverty and forced to work under subhuman conditions. Yet many take no responsibility for this. Read more here.
Alongside Emily’s appetizer, The Juice Truck will be providing cold-pressed juice and I’m bringing the popcorn.
