Every year the Okanagan is home to a handful of new wineries. A particularly charming vineyard you must visit is vinPerdu in Oliver, owned and run by a mom, a dad and their two beautiful daughters.
The Coulombe family has sold their grapes to well-known wineries for two decades, but just weeks ago they opened the doors to their very own winery and tasting room, beautifully decorated with their daughter Nathalie’s paintings.
The wine-making process is a real team effort, dedicated to producing traditional French varietals in a blend of old and new approaches. Daughter Catherine is the wine lounge manager, their other daughter Nathalie, is the vineyardist. Even their fiances have moved to Oliver to assist with the family business.
All five vinPerdu wines I tried were lovely, but the 2014 Gamay Noir was the favourite, with notes of fresh picked strawberries, raspberries, cinnamon and nutmeg. A perfect bottle for summer.
