StreetSmart to Celebrate 2013 Launch of Canadian Campaign

Global initiative unites diners and restaurateurs to eradicate hunger

StreetSmart Canada is set to launch its sophomore campaign in four cities across Canada: Toronto, Kingston, Vancouver and Victoria. The give-back initiative allows diners to visit participating restaurants, add a $1 donation to their bill, and send one hundred per cent of their donation to a local food bank.

“We’ve been floored by the responses from restaurants and patrons alike,” said Ron Josephson, Chairman of StreetSmart Canada. “Dining out is such a pleasurable and sensory experience; patrons are grateful for the opportunity to help someone who may not be able to put food on their own table, let alone go out to eat.”

To celebrate the launch, StreetSmart is hosting a cocktail event at the Bill Reid Gallery in downtown Vancouver. The event will feature notable restaurateurs, including Top Chef alum Trevor Bird, media, and members of the Vancouver Food Bank team.

StreetSmart Canada offers restaurants the ability to nourish their communities at no cost to them – they simply place a small card on the table, inviting patrons to make a donation, and every cent raised goes directly to the food bank. The StreetSmart initiative has global reach, with successful branches in the U.K., South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and India.
