Taku Cookery: Hands-On Cooking Experiences Alongside Vancouver’s Top Chefs

If you’re a gourmet foodie who loves to cook and travel, you must consider a food-focused weekend at Taku Cookery on Quadra Island where you can enjoy two jam-packed days of culinary adventures alongside a renowned Vancouver chef.

Each course is a weekend-long and features a local celebrity chef. I recently joined for a class with one of Vancouver’s most legendary chefs, John Bishop.

Set in the beautiful kitchen of Taku Resort’s owner Fei Wong, eight cooking class students and I listened intently as Chef Bishop shared his cooking philosophies, favourite recipes, must-have ingredients, essential kitchen tools and behind-the-scenes stories from momentous career occasions, like the time he cooked dinner for Bill Clinton and Boris Yeltsin.

Another highlight of the Taku Cookery experience was staying in a cozy dog-friendly cabin that looked overlooked the ocean.

Upcoming courses will feature Chef David Robertson of The Dirty Apron and Pastry Chef Greg Hook of Chocolate Arts. To sign up, head to takucookery.com.
