Commercial Drive is home to a sweet new Thai restaurant: Kin Kao is just a couple months old and their little 25-seater space is worth a visit.
Chef Tang Phoonchai learned to cook authentic Thai food from his grandma. His menu includes chicken satays, Thai fish cakes (made with basa and red curry paste), a green curry with thai eggplants and sweet basil leaves, and my favourite, the classic and positively addictive Phat Thai (or pad thai) with crushed peanuts, ground chili and tamarind sauce.
Their beer-forward drink menu features local brews 33 Acres and Strange Fellows on tap, along with two wines, a white and a red.
If you’re wondering what a Thai brunch looks like, think rice noodles topped with some kind of meat and soy and fish sauce with an egg on top.
Kin Kao Kitchen is open for both lunch and dinner from Tuesday to Saturday, and on Sunday, brunch starts at 11:30am.
