To Die For Face: Citytv’s Dawn Chubai

Citytv’s Breakfast Television Host Dawn Chubai shares her favorite foods, including details on where to find what she calls ‘the best paella’ in Vancouver.

The food you would most often describe as, ‘to die for’?

DC – A petit filet cooked perfectly medium rare. My favorite spot for steak in Vancouver is Gotham.

Your favorite Vancouver restaurant?

DC – I’ve always loved YEW. Their paella is the best I’ve had. I’m also a huge fan of L’Abattoir (their Milk Coddled Pork is melt-in-your-mouth) and Bishop’s.

Your trashy indulgence? (eg. that late night 7/11 or drive-thru treat)

DC – A&W Onion Rings with Ketchup. I crave them late at night after singing at an event (if I pass by a location).

The food you refuse to eat?

DC – I once had a bad Oyster – I can’t eat any that are more than a one-biter.

The sexiest food?

DC – Anything Thomas Haas has dipped in Chocolate, like his beautiful cherries.

Your favorite dessert?

DC – I’m not so much a dessert person as I am a ‘cheese plate person’. I like hard cheeses over soft, and no blue. My favorite spot for this is Salt in Gastown.

Your favorite comfort food?

DC – Three pea soup at The Flying Pig – it’s gorgeous and semi-chunky with ham hock and chick peas. It’s a decent portion for six bucks!
