To Die For Recipe: Perfect Green Smoothie

This is the smoothie I drink pretty much every day. The key is keeping your freezer stocked with ripe banana chunks. I use a ziploc bag to store peeled, two-inch-wide banana pieces which act as a sweetener and ice cubes (without watering the drink down).

One of my favourite parts about this smoothie is the garnish. Sometimes I bring my container of pecan chunks into my office with me while I drink my smoothie so I can re-garnish multiple times.

2 huge handfuls organic spinach (I got mine from Shalefield Organic Gardens near Cultus Lake)
1.5 frozen banana chunks
1/2 c. almond milk
1/4 c. water
2 tbsp. almond butter (sometimes I skip this for a lighter version)
2 tbsp. hemp hearts
1 tbsp. vanilla
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. maca powder (optional)
1 tbsp. chopped pecans
1/2 tsp. bee pollen sprinkled

  • Throw all ingredients (other than the pecans and bee pollen) into your Vitamix and puree until silky smooth
  • Garnish with chopped pecans and bee pollen for irresistible texture
