The Juice Truck and I are teaming up to host a series of Mindful Movie Nights to feature documentaries about the food industry and plant-based eating.
The first event will take place at Stretch Yoga Studio on Thursday, May 28th and will showcase Cowspiracy, a film about the one industry that produces more greenhouse gas emissions than any other on the planet, and the environmental groups that refuse to talk about it.
Filmmaker Kip Andersen says animal agriculture is the leading cause of deforestation, water consumption and pollution, and is responsible for more greenhouse gases than the entire transportation industry.
Zach Berman, Ryan Slater (The Juice Truck owners) and I feel the information shared in Cowspiracy is worth spreading.
We all have comforts and routines when it comes to what we eat, but no matter which diet you adhere to, after watching Cowspiracy, it’s impossible not to think about how your food choices impact our environment and shape the future for our planet and the next generations.
We believe that reducing our animal-based foods intake by a little — just a little — can make such a tremendous impact on carbon footprints. This means a healthier planet for our children, our children’s children, and so on.
Guests can expect a laid-back evening with treats (think popcorn with nutritional yeast and more), as well as a short nutrition chat from Colin of Feed Life.
Mindful Movie Night featuring Cowspiracy will take place on Thursday, May 28th at Stretch Yoga Studio. Doors open at 6:30pm, show begins at 7pm. Tickets are $5 and 100% of sales will be donated to non-profit community organization Fresh Roots. To reserve your spot, simply email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
