Where To Eat in Toronto

In a city with seriously good restaurants on nearly every street, it should be easy to answer that never-ending question, “Where should we eat?” But sometimes, with so many options at our fingertips, the decision becomes even harder! So, I’m going to simplify things. These recommendations below aren’t for ‘the good spots’. They are the eateries that will blow you away with food and/or ambiance. Yes, the list is small, but check back for updates as I make additions after each trip to the East. Here are my very favourite places to eat and drink in Toronto.

Best Bakeries in Toronto

Looking for Toronto's best bakeries? This is by no means a comprehensive list, but I have narrowed it down to those spots that will truly blow you away. I wouldn't waste your time by sending you to a "good" spot...these are the great dessert destinations in the city.

Two tables and a bar are the seating options at this impeccable, independently-owned dessert shop that specializes in French pastries and caramels. "Dessert Makes You Happy" is scrawled across the bare white wall. Roselle is the dream-turned-reality for Steph and Bruce, the young owners and pastry chefs behind this casual spot that hits it out of the park with their fanciful cakes, tarts, cookies and caramels. No doubt their French training and experience in Michelin-starred restaurants paid off.

Cafeteria-style vegan, organic, gluten and refined sugar-free eatery with a retail section filled with healthy snacks and ingredients, like raw nut milks, energy bars and granola. Though interior design isn't a focus here, the space is bright, airy and happy. Why is it to die for? The menu! Choose from unique salads (like the 'Alkaline' with sweet potato, daikon, spicy almonds and olives), raw wraps, burritos & sandwiches, smoothies, acai bowls and more. If disposable cutlery and take-out containers aren't your thing, note they are the only option here.

Craving caffeine in Toronto? Here's a list of my favourite cafes in the city. Due to the sheer number of them, I've avoided mentioning chain coffee houses, but Dark Horse and Sam James are trustworthy when it comes to espresso.
