Vancouver’s Most Charming, Independent Grocery Shops

You know those tiny, uber-charming grocery shops that sweep you off your feet with small-batch, beautifully-packaged items lining their shelves? They are my absolute favourite to discover and here are a few of my go tos:

Le Marche St. George is the heart of a neighborhood in the Kensington-Riley Park area. I’m not sure if there’s a sweeter shop in town, with its quaint charm and rustic French decor. The products on their shelves are the types you’re tempted to buy for the packaging alone, but they are delicious and high quality, too. Head here for a coffee, a fresh crepe or some locally made baking.

PazzoChow is a pretty new, super-tiny, hidden gem at Quebec and Keefer specializing in artisan Italian products. Shop here for small-batch olive oily tomato sauces, really good pasta and fresh pizza dough that you can use for homemade pies. Try a thick slice of grilled focaccia lathered in nutella while you’re there.
