Where to Eat on Bowen Island: Shika Provisions

We are so lucky to have an abundance of day trips options at our finger tips here in Vancouver. If you need an idea for this weekend, how about a ferry ride over to Bowen Island? It’s only a 20 minute trip, and Shika Provisions, a super cute food hut serving Japanese comfort food is now open for their second season.

Located on the Bowen Island marina pier, the sister eatery of Basho Cafe and Kuma Tofino is all about take-out rice bowls, grilled rice balls, amazing matcha-infused sweets and ice cream.

Shika’s menu features four rice bowls to choose from: veggie, sesame chicken, teri taco and tuna tataki, and the rice balls come in three flavours: aged cheddar, pulled pork with dijon and seaweed sesame.

Another menu option is the picnic box, filled with rice balls, chorizo, pickled veggies, and mochi sweets — perfect for a take-away meal on the nearby Bowen beaches or perhaps a post-hike indulgence.
