Where to Eat on Salt Spring Island

There’s no such thing as too many local getaways during summer, and I recently discovered a new favourite destination for relaxing, eating, and farm market shopping.

Salt Spring Island is just a 30 minute, super-scenic float plane ride away, and the bounty of local produce that awaits on the other side is incredible. Try to time your visit with the Tuesday or Saturday farmers markets, where you’ll find everything from foraged goods and organic produce to beautiful local flowers.

Another alluring feature of Salt Spring is the local wines. On a recent trip I viisted three of them: Mistaken Identity, Garry Oaks and Salt Spring Vineyards, and was blown away by their quality. If you have to pick just one to visit, give Garry Oaks a try and stock up on bottles of their Zweigelt, one of the most delightful, fruity wines I’ve tasted in a while.

Other top dining recos include Talia Cafe for coffee, Barbs Bakery & Bistro for a gourmet lunch togo and Tree House Cafe for a outdoor sit-down lunch with several healthy, plant-based options.
