In case you were wondering what happened to the old Cafe Medina space on Richards…a new restaurant called Danica’s Cafe has opened, and the owners have firm beliefs in 100% natural and organic ingredients. This philosophy was passed onto them by Danica, the matriarch of this Croatian family who is also the eatery’s namesake.
Danica’s Cafe is part bakery, part restaurant. Though breakfast, lunch, brunch and dinner menus are offered, feel free to pop by for an Elysian coffee and a baked good to-go. One of their most distinguishing features is that regular old refined sugar is not present in their kitchen. All of their baking is refined sugar-free and many items are gluten free and vegan, too. Choose from thick salted chocolate chip cookies, pie and lots more.
On weekends, brunch is served from 9am to 4pm and the menu includes healthy and indulgent options alike, like Buckwheat Pancakes, Belgian Waffles and Eggs Benny with buffalo mozzarella. A really nice surprise on their menu’s add-on section is coconut whipped cream, a seriously rare find when dining out.
