If you’ve tried recreating dairy and egg-free versions of egg nog at home unsuccessfully, then we have something in common. Never does it taste the same, or even remotely similar to the real thing.
This season, The Juice Box has created “The Nog”, a vegan version of egg nog made with raw cashews, blackstrap molasses, maple syrup, vanilla, nutmeg and cinnamon. It’s delicious! I wouldn’t say the taste or the experience is identical to traditional nog, but it definitely satisfies in latte form, over ice, or just straight out of the bottle. It’s quite thick and rich (containing a hefty amount of cashews) so I sometimes dilute it with a bit of Juice Box’s amazing almond milk.

Or, you can a homemade version (pictured). There’s no recipe…just combine espresso (or drip) with The Nog, add a bit of molasses to your mug (more for appearance than anything) and top with coconut whip. Garnish with fresh grated nutmeg.
