Where to Stay in Osoyoos: Spirit Ridge Resort at Nk’mip Cellars

Need a resort recommendation for an upcoming Oliver Osoyoos wine touring trip? Not only does Spirit Ridge Vineyard Resort and Spa overlook Osoyoos Lake and offer two swimming pools, it’s nestled at the base of a stunning desert mountain and adjoins Nk’mip Cellars, tasting room and lakeside restaurant.

Chef Kevin Cooper has recently taken over The Patio Restaurant at Nk’Mip Cellars, which is a serious bonus of staying at Spirit Ridge.

Proteins here are sourced carefully from local farms, seafood is Ocean Wise and shockingly, every dinner entree is gluten free.

The Nk’mip wines, made on site with the guidance of Osoyoos Indian band elders, are excellent and improve an already great dinner. At a recent meal, I enjoyed a perfectly seared juicy halibut filet with pine nut and white asparagus risotto paired so beautifully with Nk’mip’s 2012 Qwam Qwmt Chardonnay.

For dessert, an Espresso Creme Brulee was taken to the next level thanks to sips of Nk’Mip’s riesling Ice wine enjoyed with every bite.
