Healthy Banana Nut Smoothie

Smoothies: thanks to nutritious protein powders like Vega One™ they’re the easiest way to ingest greens on a daily basis without washing, chopping or preparing vegetables. They’re also one of the most foolproof ways to hide nutrients (such as spirulina, chlorella, chia seeds, hemp hearts and ground flax) if you or your kids have a picky palette.

And if you’ve ever been daunted by long, fancy-sounding smoothie recipes that call for ingredients you’ve never heard of it (or don’t often have in your pantry), know that it’s entirely possible to blend-up something super simple that checks off all your nutritional needs, like this easy, four-ingredient Banana Nut Smoothie.

Processed with Snapseed.

Containing a scoop of Vega One, this smoothie recipe contains 20 grams of protein, 25% of your recommended daily intake of fibre, Omega 3s ALA, antioxidants and so much more. And the Silk® Unsweetened Almond (the liquid component) contains no added sugar, as much calcium as dairy milk and plenty of vitamin D.

Here’s my easy Banana Nut Smoothie recipe which is perfect for the busy person who’s focused on shaking off summer’s indulgences and getting back into a healthy routine…

1 c. Silk Unsweetened Almond
1 scoop Vega One (use Natural, if you prefer less sweet and French Vanilla if you have a bit of a sweet tooth)
1 1/2 frozen bananas
1 1/2 tbsp. nut butter (I used creamy hazelnut butter)

  1. In the base of your cup, add nut butter (if desired).
  2. In a high-powered blender, combine Silk Unsweetened Almond, Vega One and frozen banana and blend until silky smooth.
  3. Add smoothie to your glass, swirl and enjoy!

*Note: this smoothie is a perfect base to build on — its flavours will pair well with almost anything else you want to add in, like other fruits and leafy greens.

Thanks to Vega and Silk for sponsoring this post! All opinions are my own.
